Lighting Of The Church September 14, 2000 The paschal candle is brought into the church. The bishop presents a light from the paschal candle to the pastor, proclaiming: "May the light of Christ shine forth in the Church and bring all nations to the fullness of truth." The pastor lights the altar candles. Finally 12 parish council members receive candles lit from the paschal candle and bring them to the 12 stations where the walls of the church were anointed. These 12 candles will only by lit for special occasions such as, the anniversary of the Dedication of the Church, the parish Feast Day, Christmas and Easter. The continual presence of the 12 candles are a reminder that the church has been consecrated.
