COME HOLY SPIRIT
Come, Holy Spirit
fill the hearts of your faithful
and enkindle in them
the fire of your love.

Send forth your spirit
and they shall be created

And you shall renew
the face of the earth.

Let us Pray ...
O God, who did instruct
the hearts of the faithful
by the light of the Holy Spirit,
grant us in the same spirit
to be truly wise,
and ever to rejoice
in his consolation.
Through Christ our Lord.  Amen

ACT OF CONTRITION (Traditional)
Oh my God, I am heartily sorry for having offended you and I detest all my sins because of your just punishments. But most of all because they offend you,  my God, who are all good and deserving of all my love.  I firmly resolve with the help of your grace, to sin no more and to avoid the near occasions of sin.  Amen.

ACT OF CONTRITION (Newer Version)
Oh, my God, I am sorry for my sins.  In choosing to do wrong, and failing to do good, I have sinned against you and your church.  I firmly intend, with the help of your son, to make up for my sins and to love as I should.  Our Savior, Jesus Christ, suffered and died for us.  In his name, my God, have mercy.

PRAYER OF ST. FRANCIS
Lord, make
me an instrument of your peace.
Where there is hatred, let me sow love.
Where there is injury, pardon.
Where there is doubt, faith.
Where there is despair, hope.
Where there is darkness, light.
Where there is sadness, joy.

O Divine Master, grant that I may not so much seek
to be consoled, as to console;
to be understood, as to understand;
to be loved, as to love;
for it is in giving that we receive,
it is in pardoning that we are pardoned.
It is in dying that we are born to eternal life.
                        (St. Francis of Assisi)

ANIMA CHRISTI
Soul of Christ, sanctify me.
Body of Christ, save me.
Blood of Christ, inebriate me.
Water from the side of Christ, wash me.
Passion of Christ, strength me.
O good Jesus, hear me.
Within your wounds, hide me.
Suffer me not to be separated from Thee.
From the malignant enemy, defend me.
In the hour of my death, call me.
And bid me come to Thee.
That, with Thy saints, I may praise Thee.
Forever and ever.  Amen.

PRAYER OF ABANDOMENT
Father,
I abandon myself into your hands;
do with me what you will,
whatever you may do, I thank you:
I am ready for all, I accept all.
Let only your will be done in me,
and in all your creatures --
I wish no more than this, O Lord.

Into your hands I commend my soul;
I offer it to you with all the love of my heart,
for I love you, Lord,
and so need to give myself,
to surrender myself into your hands,
without reserve,
and with boundless confidence.
            (Charles de Foucauld)

Cardinal Newman’s Prayer
May Christ support us all the day long,

til the shadows lengthen,

and the evening comes

and the busy world is hushed

and the fever of life is over

and our work is done,

then in His mercy

may He give us a safe lodging,

a holy rest

and peace at the last.

Amen
