Wednesday, August 29, 2018
Volunteers work from:  10:30am – 12:30pm

Attire:
Please wear closed toe shoes and a hat to work in the Diner. If you forget a hat, we will provide you with a hair net. We also ask that you dress appropriately. If you plan on wearing a skirt or shorts, please make sure they are an appropriate length and no tank tops.

Volunteer tasks include, but are not limited to:

  • Sanitizing the dining room and kitchen
  • Cutting fruits and vegetables
  • Slicing bread and dessert
  • Preparing meal trays
  • Serving meal trays
  • Washing dishes
  • Organizing food pantry donation
  • Assisting with other meal preparation/cleaning duties

For Large Groups:
For the lunch shift, we need 6 volunteers to help the shift run smoothly. We understand that larger school groups and other organizations would like the opportunity to serve together. For these groups we can accommodate 8-10 volunteers. For more information on scheduling a large group, please contact our Volunteer and Development Coordinator at chollier@catholicservice.org.

A note of cameras and smart phones:
We ask that all volunteers help us respect the confidentiality of our patrons. If you plan to use a camera or video recorder (or any recording device, including a smart phone) during your time of volunteering, please only take photos or videos of yourself and/or the group of which you are a part. Please do not take photos or videos of patrons. If you have any questions regarding your volunteer service with us please contact our Volunteer and Development Coordinator at chollier@catholicservice.org.

Parking:
St. Joseph Diner is located at 613 W. Simcoe Street, Lafayette 70501. Volunteers may park in the lot adjacent to the Diner, where the blue dumpster is. The lot is located across from the church. The single glass door on the right has a doorbell to ring upon arrival.

Please sign up in the vestibule (welcome area) if you are interested in participating in this ministry.  Even if the list is full for the dates, if interested, sign up on the open volunteer sheet.  If enough people are interested in this ministry we will form a committee under stewardship to regularly participate in this wonderful ministry.
