Sacrament of Confirmation

“Confirmation...gives us a special strength of the Holy Spirit to spread and defend the faith by word and action as true witnesses of Christ, to confess the name of Christ boldly, and never to be ashamed of the cross”

(CCC 1303)

ABOUT THE SACRAMENT
The Confirmation program is intended for students who are entering Eighth grade through Junior year of high school. The sacrament of Confirmation builds on the sacraments of Baptism, Penance, and Holy Communion, completing the process of initiation into the Catholic community. It increases and deepens all of the graces granted at Baptism and confers special graces of the Holy Spirit upon the person being confirmed; just as such graces were granted to the Apostles on Pentecost.

SACRAMENTAL PREPARATION
Students desiring to enter the parish’s Confirmation program, including those in Catholic schools, need to register in August of their eighth grade - junior year of high school. Confirmation Registration packs are available in the back of the Church and the Church Office throughout August. Registration deadline is Thursday, August 31, 2023. Classes will be held on Sundays from 4-5:45 p.m. All who register for Confirmation classes must meet the prerequisite requirements found in the Confirmation policy. Space is limited and we will first open registration to registered, supporting, and involved families of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church. For more information about the policy and the program, please contact Blake Paul Harson at blake@setonchurch.org or call the office at (337) 235-1483.
